I want to wear colour, really I do, unfortunately like a majority of Melbournians I suffer from a predisposition to wearing black and the cold and miserable weather of late doesn’t exactly have me reaching for the fuchsia and teal.
It was on one such cold and miserable night last week (Wednesday to be precise) that we made our way over to the Kate Rohde/Romance Was Born Exhibition launch at The Karen Woodbury gallery in Richmond with colour on our minds.

The collaboration between the creative forces of local artist Kate Rohde and Romance designers Luke Sales and Anna Plunkett first came into fruition during Australian Fashion week – working together to produce the S/S10 collection Renaissance Dinosaur, a fantastical and psychedelic clothing range – Sales and Plunkett once again distinguishing themselves from the rest of the Australian fash pack with their bold use of colour, texture, makeup and head-wear.
Off the catwalk the Renaissance Dinosaur Exhibition is fashion meets art: inspired by dinosaurs, deer and antelopes large stuffed bejewelled and bedazzled plush animals are displayed next to one-off resin cuffs and headpieces – This is one art exhibition which needs to be seen to be believed.

The Kate Rohde & Romance Was Born exhibition is on until September 18th at:
4 Albert Street, Richmond
